Vision and Aims
We are the first medical facility in Germany and Europe that offers a complex diagnosis (time-consuming anamnesis and special laboratory tests) and a holistic therapy approach to Lyme disease and co-infections according to the ILADS guidelines (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society - www.ilads.org) and the recommendations of the German Borreliosis Society (www.borreliose-gesellschaft.de). Since September 2009, there is a second treatment facility in the North of Germany (Harz Region) called the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg, which diagnoses and treats according to our standards (www.b-c-bl.de).
Vision
We are providing a medical facility where people suffering from tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease and co-infections) can receive treatment and help!
It is our aim to to fight Lyme disease - particularly the chronic forms of the disease - and give hope and recovery to people with the disease! Unfortunately, there is still a dispute about chronic Lyme disease and its difficulties and it is our hope and aim to implement diagnosis and therapy approaches, which we and ILADS believe are necessary, with health insurance companies.
We would also like to help fighting further, severe infectious diseases: diagnosis + therapy for chronic inflammation processes and re-activation of the immune system. We see these chronic infections often as disease patterns with co-infections and/or parallel to an active chronic Lyme disease.
Aims
1. Treating Chronic Lyme Disease sucessfully!
- Holistic treatment approach: effective fighting of Borrelia/Co-pathogens + curing inflammation processes + re-activating the immune system (strengthening and supporting the self-healing power)
- Ambulant Day Medical Clinic: intensive treatment program over 1-3 weeks - for therapy introduction, monitoring and guidance for "self-help" measures, referral to the personal general practitioner/family doctor
- "Health Coaching": necessary "self-help" and "life-style" changes, healthy diet, excersise, sleep, stress reduction, mental balancing
- Bringing together a team of specialists for diagnosis and therapy in the BCA, as well as in other locations in Germany and Europe: doctors and therapists with a wide range of expertise and competences
- Developing alternative treatment approaches - e.g. for antibiotic intolance or resistence
2. Continuing to develop the diagnosis of Lyme disease and co-infections:
Laboratory Tests + Clinical Findings
3. Increasing the collaborations with doctors in the field of
tick-borne diseases
- Doctor's Training Workshops (e.g. for the German Borreliosis Society and the International Lyme and Associated Disease Society - ILADS)
- Offering specialised laboratory services (Lyme disease and co-infections - incl. immune defense status and inflammation markers) + support in diagnosis and therapy plan development
- Developing new, feasable standards in anamnesis, diagnosis and therapy
- Providing information online (patient information, etc.)
4. Recognition of chronic Lyme disease by
health insurance companies and science
- Active engagement in ILADS, German Borreliosis Society, and other organisations
- Developing and implementing scientific research studies in the BCA / BCB with collaborators or partners (therapy, etc.)
- Awareness raising towards health insurance companies and other medical organisations
- Presentations, information and close collaboration with patient organisations and regional support groups
